Do emotions conquer facts? A CCME model for the impact of emotional information on implicit attitudes in the post-truth era

Abstract This study aimed to examine the influence of emotional media information on information-processing mechanisms in current post-truth era. A cognitive conflict monitoring and evaluation (CCME) model was proposed explore news audiences’ attention implicit attitudes. The had a 2 (information type, vs. neutral) × (condition, compatible incompatible) 3 (electrode position: Fz Cz Pz) design, an association test (IAT) administered, with event-related potential (ERP) data collected. results revealed that evoked different than neutral information. First, early conflict-monitoring stage, altered arousal, more attentional resources were allocated semantic processing. Second, late lack (due prior allocation) reduced late-stage target stimuli by participants. Thus, this era, may be exhausted processing unnecessary cues irrelevant facts, inducing prolonged articles.
